Fr. Anastasios Athanasiou
Fr. Anastasios was born and raised in Pittsburgh, PA. His parents, Harry & Joyce Athanasiou raised him in their North Side home along with his older brother, Deacon George Athanasiou. Fr. Anastasios is a Pittsburgher through and through, as a graduate of Taylor Allderdice High School in 2006 and received his Bachelor of Science in Civil & Environmental Engineering from the University of Pittsburgh. During his time at Pitt, he began to date a daughter of this community, Lena Rizos. The two were later married here at our church in 2013. Fr. Anastasios attended Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology where he obtained a Masters of Divinity. Fr. Anastasios served the St. Demetrios Greek Orthodox Church on the West Side of Cleveland in Rocky River, Ohio as a pastoral assistant, deacon, and assistant priest from June 15, 2015 through December 31, 2018. Fr. Anastasios was officially assigned to our parish on January 1, 2019 and installed by His Eminence, Metropolitan Savas on January 6, 2019.
