It was an amazing opening day. Thirty-four students enrolled in Greek School this year, nine of which are from our sister church in Aliquippa. We welcome them, and we’re so happy they could join us. All the students are very enthusiastic and eager to learn the Greek language. But, we were curious to know the reason why they joined Greek School. Here is what a few of them said:

“I want to…understand things when my dad says them.”

“…I want to talk to my yiayia and papou…I want to hear their stories.”

“…I would like to talk to my yiayia and papou and answer all the questions they ask me.”

“…when I go to Greece I can be a little more independent.”

“I hope to be able to read, write, and speak like I came straight off the boat.”

“…I want to say something in public that I don’t want people to know.”

Our students will receive 70 hours of instruction by the end of the year and we are confident that with hard work and dedication they will be able to achieve and exceed their goals.

The Greek School teachers would like to purchase additional teaching materials in order to enhance the program. We welcome any donations to help cover the cost of these materials. Donations can be made to the church earmarked for Greek School.

Throughout November, classes will continue as usual on Mondays 5:30 – 7:30.
